I have been creating art since I was a little girl and used that love of all things artistic to earn a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art and a Master's degree in Art Therapy Counseling in 2012. As a result, I have worked with geriatric populations in memory care as well as the crisis sector of the mental health community. While I enjoy the people I have met and I have worked with and for, I found myself seeking a more creativity driven career and chose to go back to school for graphic design. I earned my Associate of Applied Science degree with a focus in Graphic Design from Mt. Hood Community College in 2016.
Towards the end of my time at Mt. Hood, I discovered planners and then went on to discover bullet journaling. I loved how it allowed me to focus on getting tasks done but also allowed me to put into practice some of the design elements I have learned, put in art, and fuel the creative portion of my soul that had been neglected. When it comes to my art, the work I create is primarily focused on subjects represented in a highly illustrative way. I am inspired by the art nouveau period, anime and Japanese culture, and the beauty of the natural world around me: in short, I am rather eccentric (if my photo did not give you that clue already!) Speaking of, you may have noticed the whole oceanic theme and mermaid tail! I have been part of the mermaid community since about 2009. I have made several fabric tails, own one Merbella Studios tail, |
and have one fabric tail I purchased from a company because how could I not? Hah. I primarily spend my time as a mermaid volunteering. I’ve volunteered at pirate events, Faerieworlds, Renaissance festivals, and a surprise swim for a terminally ill child. I have given talks about being a mermaid at Norwescon near Seattle for the past two years, so I might have seen you there.
On the main blog page, you can find links to my portfolio that contains my design work and some of my artwork if you are curious. I will be incorporating more of my work into the bullet journals and not relying completely on stamps to make cute illustrations, but for more dynamic work, feel free to look at my portfolio! (An update to my Deviant Art is still in the planning stage.)
One thing I know for sure, I will continue to bullet journal and document all the fin-tastic things to come!
