and understood that it was, indeed, a stamp. I suppose, unless you also draw or do some form of similar creative activity, it can be a little hard to understand. It is akin to that scene in the cartoon Family Guy where Peter pretends to play a keyboard in fun and a stranger calls him out as being a phony. Though, I do try not to fool anyone that the adorable Lawn Fawn critters on my pages are anything but stamps. So, I told myself, "I am going to do more drawings in my journal this year. I want more of my real art in it!" And thus, I have attempted to make each week a different themed drawing. In the image above you can see it is a rather graphic illustration of fruit and rainbow borders. Other weeks I have drawn birch forests, mushrooms, and so on. Below, you can see where I even watercolored in goldfish. (I was super excited to know that my journal accepted watercolors and they would not bleed through.)
other weeks that are drawn or painted by hand. This way, I can have those weeks where I feel accomplished and that I have used my own art, but I can also have other weeks that I can use new stamps, or old favorites, to create themes and weeks based on what s coming up or things that I love.
To further help with my need for more of my own art, I have gotten back into art journaling. I am going to work on a section in here that will also touch on art journaling. I think that art journaling will help take a lot of the pressure off myself to put so much of my art in the bullet journal, and allow me to explore more emotional things. During my re-exploration into art journaling, I heard the community echoing something that I found wonderful. Paraphrased; it didn't matter if you used stamps as bases or to decorate your journal or as the main focal point, you still were taking them and changing them into something creative and that was just as valid as drawing your own things. That assisted me in taking off some of the guilt I felt about not drawing 100% of my own things in my journal, and I think that so long as (for me personally) I do not try to claim that the stamp I used was my own drawing, I feel the guilt of using it in my journals will eventually evaporate.
