start on January or June. This can start on any date that you want, though preferably it is one that you are near! For example, if you start your bullet journal on September 19th, you can start your future log with either September or October, depending on preference; just remember that September 20th-30th will not be covered in your future log if you choose to start on October.
Why do a Future Log? This lets you see important things that are coming up and helps you to gauge your time for them. Things that are usually written down are appointments, birthdates, holidays, vacations, seasonal changes, or the very important date for the release of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. You can choose to color over dates after color coding them. Remember, this journal is all up to you! The Monthly Spread is another version of the future log, though it shows only a month at a time. There are different ways to lay this part of your bullet journal out, but I have found that I enjoy the one shown below. It allows me to hae each day have it's own block so I do not have to do any of that split-day look that somtimes happens in calendars with the 30th and 31st of the month. There is also space for me to wite down what different symbols mean on this spread and the main tasks I want to complete during the month. My first monthly spread was very plain (bottom left.) I decorated it a little, but overall there was a lot of white space and unused decoration possibilities. I am not too hard on myself for this as I was still learning, but if you look at December (bottom right) you can see how much the deocration improved. It is a little more full, but I can still read it and I find it fun. The look you go for is up to you, and you can make it as plain or as decorated as you like! Just remember to have fun.
