stamp on a day where I felt I had done something to make a friend who has having a really hard time feel a little better. I cannot wait to have a reason to use the other stamps sometime in my bullet journal. I greatly enjoy coloring them in and making them look like different cats I have known in real life. The other stamps that are featured in this post are the set of five maneki neko, or beckoning cats. These cats are on a foam base rather than wood like the other cats. The maneki neko is a cat that beckons fortune to it's master, and fortune is not always money. The set features one bowing, the next is holding a coin with a yen symbol on it, the third holds a heart with the word "love," the fourth is a cat with a letter reading "mail," and the last stamp is a bell with tags on it featuring a heart and the symbol for yen. I find them all cute and I plan to use them as I see fit and if the appropriate theme comes up for the day, such as if I get a package in the mail I am happy about, I may use the cat with the letter to signify that it was beckoning me with good fortune in the mail. I have used the bowing one already to symbolize personal thanks for something. That is what is so nice about stamps and other things too, you know? There is a general meaning behind some of them, but you can also assign your own meaning to things and use them that way. It's your journal, right? :) You can have things mean whatever you want them to; though it is still good to understand the traditional and cultural meanings behind things. It's fun to learn about them. *Note: The pronunciations of the words above are phonetic and not how they would be written in romaji. That is to ensure someone who does not speak Japanese can still pronounce them properly when reading it. I apologize to any people who can read Japanese and found the phonetic version in parenthesis confusing.
